POOL RESCUE:
MILTON MIYAKAWA, ZACHARY KAMAI, SUN KIM
Board Members, Staff and Residents got together to honor three quick thinking heros who rescued a resident from drowning. On Wednesday, June 27, 2007, Sun Kim was walking by the edge of the pool and noticed that someone was on the bottom of the pool. He ran to the pool phone and dialed Security. Zachary Kamai, on duty in the Security office, immediately radioed Ryan Benavente to take over for him and ran as fast as he could up the stairs to the pool. Zachary dove into the pool and with the help of Sun Kim and the injured man's wife, pulled the resident from the pool. Milton Miyakawa, whose business, 30 Minute Fitness, is next to the pool, performed CPR with the assistance of Zachary Kamai and Sun Kim. Meanwhile Ryan in Security had called 911 and the Fire Department and EMS arrived within minutes. Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of Milton Miyakawa, Zachary Kamai and Sun Kim, the resident survived and is recovering in the hospital.
PARKING RULES:
Stalls U-1 to U-9 in the circular driveway have a 30-minute maximum and are for Nauru Tower residents and guests only. All cars parked in the circular driveway in stalls U-1 to U-9 MUST register in the Lobby and include the unit they are visiting. When a car has exceeded the 30-minute limit, the Security office will place one courtesy call to the unit and if the car is not moved, it will be TOWED AT OWNER'S EXPENSE. If your car has been towed, please call Tow Jams Towing Service at 808-593-1993. They are located at 894 Waimanu Street.
FRONT DOOR STAIN:
Some owners have complained about deteriorating finish on their front doors. Please contact the Resident Manager about stain recommendations.
ORCHID RECYCLING:
When the blooms have fallen off your orchid plants, please do not throw them away. We would like to save them for future use in the Lobby. Please email Patty Naus of the Nauru Tower Garden Club and she will pick them up. You may email her at panampatty@hawaii.rr.com. An orchid nursery has been established on the roof of Nauru Tower and it is from here that orchids are selected for Lobby arrangements.
The Nauru Tower Garden Club has decided to place nine pots of petunias around the entry level fountain. So far, six residents have offered to donate one flowerpot each which we estimate will cost about $100. If you are interested in donating a flowerpot, please send an email to info@naurutowernews.com (a plaque with your name recognizing your generosity will be placed on the pot).
